Abstract The aim of this talk is to present how educators and leaders can enable global citizenship for the next generation. Globalization and technological innovation bring a great transformation into human life and work. In this context, what skills and qualities should leaders possess in establishing trust and loyalty between them and their followers? In the present globalized world, leaders need to be able to manage culturally diverse settings efficiently. What are the essential leadership skills and qualities that will help individuals to meet the challenges they face in terms of cultural background, ethnicity, religion, language, gender, age, etc. in their diverse workplace environments and be successful as global leaders? It is crucial that leaders are aware of their roles and responsibilities in upholding positive workplace environments that can increase employee retention. In the present context of technological innovation and advancement what methods and approaches should leaders uphold in improving employee satisfaction that leads to organizational success and ultimate increase of leadership retention? Here, we have to consider Global Citizenship Education (GCE) which is a framing model that summarizes how education can develop the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes learners need for securing a world which is more just, peaceful, tolerant, inclusive, secure and sustainable. As such, it aims to share a common objective to promote a more peaceful and sustainable world. Global Citizenship Education aims to prepare learners for the challenges of the twenty-first century. However, there are also a number of ongoing tensions with the concepts of global citizenship and global citizenship education. The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, has also emphasized the role of education in ‘helping people to forge more just, peaceful and tolerant societies’ with the establishment of the Global Education First Initiative (GEFI). Launched in 2012, the Initiative includes education to ‘foster global citizenship’ as one of its three priorities to build a better future for all. The Global Education First Initiative (GEFI) has three priorities: to put every child in school, to improve the quality of learning, and to foster global citizenship. Thus, we must foster global citizenship. Education is about more than literacy and numeracy. It is also about citizenry.
